Roundtable on De-alerting Nuclear Weapons
IPI recently held a roundtable on the de-alerting of nuclear weapons, an issue raised by several resolutions of the General Assembly. In providing a diverse selection of views on this important issue, the discussion saw a lively debate on the operational status of nuclear weapons systems, the risks associated with high-level alert status, and the possible steps to reduce such risks. ![]()

IPI's Coping with Crisis program held a roundtable meeting on weapons of mass destruction at the Trygve Lie Center for Peace, Security, and Development. It was the second roundtable of "Task Force One: Transnational Security Challenges."

IPI launched the new strategic dossier by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) entitled "Nuclear Black Markets: Pakistan, A.Q. Khan and the Rise of Proliferation Networks."
About This Project
This project aims at supporting efforts to promote disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It focuses on identifying concrete steps to improve the UN response to these challenges, and on facilitating discussions among member states to build a consensus on these issues.
