Poll Finds Broad Support for UN in Lebanon

A new public opinion poll in Lebanon released by the International Peace Institute shows broad support for the United Nations and its peacekeeping and diplomatic activity in Lebanon, high confidence in the Lebanese Army and a pronounced concern over the role of armed militias and Hezbollah.

Malone, High Commisssioner of Canada and Former President of the International Peace Institute, was recently nominated for the 2006-07 Lionel Gelber Prize – an award that selects “the best books on international affairs” published in English regardless of country of origin.
